Welcome...

Elephant In The Room Counselling and Consulting is in Mi'kma'ki, the ancestral territory of the Mi'kmaq nation. As an ancestor of white colonizers, I believe it is my responsibility to uphold my treaty responsibilities to facilitate healing through honouring the
94 Calls To Action and advocating for Indigenous Rights.
Healing is for everyone.
I believe in taking responsibility for our history, past and present, acknowledging the greater truth, while working towards change. I believe that Truth before Reconciliation can be applied to all human errors, and feelings can lead us to both.
One way of looking at decolonization is seeing it as an act of critical thinking in a society that has forgotten the full meaning of authentic moral humanitarianism. We are all treaty people and anti-oppression work is in our daily actions and education. Reparing and healing helps all of humanity. Humility accepts all learning as a key to growth, and growth is ongoing and indefinite.
